How to make kratom tea? You can easily prepare kratom tea with kratom powder or its extract.
In today’s article, I will show you how to brew kratom and the dosage needed to make it. Here is the kratom tea recipe for you.
The easiest and most popular way to prepare kratom tea is by brewing your kratom powder in water. If you don’t want to brew your kratom powder directly in the water, you can use empty tea bags and fill them up with your kratom dose.
Normally, I prefer kratom tea because:
- Fewer side effects (never gotten wobbles off tea);
- Makes your tummy happier (without constipation);
- The kratom retains its medicinal properties without being toxic or acidic.
- It feels cleaner.
- I also find that tapering/taking breaks off tea is much easier than leaf, probably due to some alkaloids not getting consumed since tea is a water extract.

What Is the Best Way to Make Kratom Tea?
Most people prefer powdered kratom than the extracts or leaves. Hence the powdered tea recipe is common among kratom users. But due to its bitter taste, they go for some sweeteners.
To know about the best way to make kratom tea, you must know the chemical properties of Kratom.
Why You Must Use Lemon Juice While Making Kratom Tea?
The pKa (a measure of acid strength) of Mitragynine (major alkaloid of kratom) is about 8. Hence to get the most efficient extraction of kratom, you must lower your pH level of Kratom tea to pH6. At this pH level, most of the mitragynine will be protonated, and therefore polar and water soluble.
To lower the pH level of kratom tea, you need the citric acid monohydrate. That is rich in lemon! Lemons are about 0.30 mol/L in citric acid, so just a small amount is good. Usually, 10mg citric acid is sufficient for two cups of water. So, to make 2 cups of kratom tea, 1/2 lemon is sufficient.
But always remember that you should add the lemon juice before you boil the kratom powder so that it will boil with it!
What About Strained Kratom Tea?
The Mitragynine is much more water soluble than 7-Hydroxymitragynine. So, in a strained tea, there is a higher ratio of 7-Hydroxymitragynine than Mitragynine. This results in most stimulating effects and less pain relief. Hence you need citric acid in the form of lemon juice to balance the chemical properties of kratom.
This is the traditional way of making Kratom tea. ( Buy kratom powder or its extract. ) Here is the kratom tea recipe by using its leaves.
- Take a small bowl and pour 2 cups of water.
- Add some kratom leaves in it.
- Allow the leaves steep in boiling water for about 20 minutes.
- Once the leaves are strained, switch off the stove.
- Filter the residual water with any filters and drink the kratom tea.
Note:
- You can also add sugar, artificial sweeter, or honey to reduce the bitter taste of kratom.
- If you brew the kratom tea using its leaves, use any filters to remove the settled kratom. (cheesecloth filters work the best.)
Is lemon acts as a Kratom Potentiator?
In terms of strength, lemon is a good kratom potentiator. It reduces your tolerance level/addiction effects and makes the kratom a bit stronger. Hence you can have the same effects for a lower dose of kratom. Further, it saves money because you use less kratom!
How to Make Kratom Tea with Powder?

- Squeeze the lemon half hard to get the juice out and add this juice to the teapot.
- Then heat the water to a simmer.
- Stir it occasionally. And be sure that you do not end up boiling it.
- Then, turn the gas off and let it brew for 2 minutes.
- That’s all. Kratom tea is ready for consumption.
Note:
- You can also add sugar, artificial sweeter, or honey to reduce the bitter taste of kratom.
- If you think this dosage is low, then you can add kratom powder gradually to get stronger kratom tea.
Kratom Tea Dosage
Since Kratom is a very potent plant, the dosage is very important while consuming it. Generally, the kratom dosage depends on your body metabolism and tolerance levels.
The following are the recommended quantities of Kratom powder for making tea:
- Mild Dosage: 1-3 grams (Mood Boosting and Anxiety relief)
- Moderate Dosage: 4-5 grams (Pain Killing and Relaxation)
- Strong Dosage: 5-8 grams (Sedative/Analgesic/Euphoric effect)
- Very High Dosage: 8-12 grams (Highly Sedative)
